2013 Global Dignity Day

Hi everyone,

On Wednesday, October 16, we celebrated Global Dignity Day with 250,000 students around the world.  One of the activities that Fieldcrest students participated in throughout the day was a Zentangle workshop.  Students were given a small tile with the GDD symbol and were asked to use a pattern of their choice to fill the space. This related to the concept of dignity because there are a lot of ways to increase dignity in a person, and one of those ways is by being supportive of others, and supportive of yourself.  With Art, we are very susceptible to criticism. One positive remark by someone can be all it takes to raise someone else's self-confidence in their work, and that was our focus.  Together, we created a mosaic, which symbolized our commitment to being a part of a greater idea.  The students did a wonderful job!

Many students were asking if we were going to have a Zentangle club again this year - we are!!  It will begin in November and will hopefully happen regularly, once a week.  Students will be asked to commit to the club by purchasing a $13-15 kit (unless they already have one) which includes some tiles, some pens, and a zentangle pencil.  If you have any questions about Zentangle, please contact me at skelton.fes@gmail.com or click on any of the links at the side of this page.

Have a great October!
Miss Skelton :)
